The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania has allocated additional EUR 10, 000 for humanitarian aid to Albania. The funds will be transferred to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
On 13 December, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania hosted an event of the charity campaign "Maltesers soup" for the sixth time already. All money raised will go to assist elderly people in Lithuania who are lonely.
On 9 December, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas met with the Cuban journalist, human rights defender, winner of the European Parliament's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought Guillermo Fariñas, and Omar Lopez, Human Rights Director at the Cuban American National Foundation.
On 21 November, the career diplomat Dalius Čekuolis took office as the new Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. D. Čekuolis replaced the former Foreign Vice-Minister Darius Skusevičius, who has been appointed as the Ambassador of Lithuania to Canada.
On 14 November, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas met with the new Ambassador of Montenegro to Lithuania, Dr. Budimir Šegrt, who came to present his letters of credence to the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda.
On 14 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the first Ambassador of Bahrain to Lithuania, who resides in Paris, Muhammad Abdul Ghaffar. The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation and security in the Middle East.
On 14 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the new Ambassador of Kuwait, who resides in Berlin, Najeeb Al-Bader. The meeting discussed possible cooperation between Lithuania and Kuwait in the fields of financial services, agriculture, science and innovation, as well as security in the Middle East.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania closely monitors the situation in the Republic of Moldova after its Government lost a no-confidence vote in the Parliament on 12 November.
On 9 October in Vilnius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with his Swedish counterpart Ann Linde, who was appointed as the Minister for Foreign Affairs in September. The Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral and regional cooperation, security, topical issues of Eastern neighborhood, and the Lithuanian-Swedish cooperation within international formats.
On August 7, Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius expressed his condolences on the passing of former Indian Minister of External Affairs Ms Shusma Swaraj. The Minister extended his deepest sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.
On 29 July Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius met with members of Misija Sibiras’19 (Mission Siberia 2019) who returned from Kazakhstan. A team of sixteen people had had a plan to go to Krasnoyarsk in Russia this year, however, their visa applications were rejected as was the case last year, too.
On 5 July, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius conferred the Foreign Ministry’s award of honor – Lithuania’s Diplomacy Star – on Faina Kukliansky, Chair of the Jewish (Litvak) Community of Lithuania.
On 28 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius conferred Lithuania's Diplomacy Star on the President of the Lithuanian Ambassadors' Club Algirdas Kumža.
On 26 June in Brussels, Giles Portman, who heads the East Stratcom Task Force of the European External Action Service (EEAS) from 2015, received Lithuania's Diplomacy Star. The East Stratcom Task Force is the sole institutional response of the European Union to Russia's organized disinformation campaigns against EU institutions and its member states.
On 10 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius discussed Moldova's political crisis with Maia Sandu. The leader of the Action and Solidarity Party was appointed as the Prime Minister of a new Government endorsed by the Parliament of Moldova on 8 June.
