L.Linkevičius receives Azerbaijan’s new Ambassador, explores prospects to deepen bilateral cooperation

On 12 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius received the incoming Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Lithuania Tamerlan Garayev.
"Lithuanian and Azerbaijani institutions and citizens are cooperating in various fields, but it is important to more actively develop economic ties between our two countries," said the Minister L. Linkevičius. The meeting also discussed the situation in South Caucasus and Lithuania's interest in a closer relationship between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
On 16 January, the new Ambassador of Azerbaijan presented his letters of credence to the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė. Azerbaijan opened its Embassy in Vilnius in 2007. T. Garayev is the third head of the Embassy. Since 1993, he has served as in China, India, Indonesia, and other Asian countries.
