Lithuania's Foreign Minister Landsbergis thanked Andorra for its support for Ukraine: The international community must continue to exert maximum pressure on Russia
After his meeting with Andorra's Foreign Minister Maria Ubach Font, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis stressed that the international community needed to step up its effort to deal with Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine and to seek the Kremlin’s accountability for international crimes.
On Tuesday, 8 November, the chief of Lithuania's diplomacy met with Andorra's Foreign Minister, who was visiting Lithuania. The meeting focused on bilateral relations, cooperation within international organisations, cooperation between the European Union and Andorra, Russia’s war in Ukraine, as well as other topical items on the international agenda.
“I am delighted that we are like-minded with Andorra on many issues. Courage and determination to defend common principles and values are needed now more than ever. One of the most striking examples of this is Andorra’s decision to join EU sanctions against Russia. Andorra also provides support for Ukraine, receives and integrates war refugees in their country," Landsbergis said.
“The international community must continue to exert maximum pressure on Russia and its supporters, Belarus and other authoritarian regimes, thus sending a clear message that the crimes of war and aggression, and attempts to aid the aggressor will receive a response,” Lithuania's Foreign Minister said.
The Foreign Minister also welcomed Lithuania's close cooperation with Andorra within international organisations and thanked the country for backing Lithuania’s nominations. Landsbergis also noted that Lithuania supported closer cooperation between Andorra and the EU.
“Although we are small countries, by acting together we can achieve much more and be better heard,” Landsbergis said.
This year, Lithuania and Andorra celebrate the 25th anniversary of the re-establishment of their diplomatic relations.
