Litauische Staatsangehörigkeit

Ab dem 15. November 2021 können alle Anträge auf die Staatsbürgerschaft der Republik Litauen und Mitteilungen über den Erwerb der Staatsbürgerschaft eines anderen Staates nur noch über das litauische Migrationsinformationssystem MIGRIS unter der Adresse www.migracija.lt eingereicht werden (alle Browser außer Internet Explorer).  

In Litauen ist die doppelte Staatsangehörigkeit unzulässig. Art. 12 Abs. 2 der Verfassung von Litauen schreibt das Gebot der Vermeidung mehrfacher Staatsangehörigkeiten fest.

Ausnahmen von diesem Grundsatz sind für Auslandslitauer im Staatsangehörigkeitsgesetz §7 festgelegt.

Beim Erwerb einer anderen Staatsbürgerschaft durch Einbürgerung besteht eine Pflicht binnen 2 Monaten den litauischen Staat darüber zu informieren.

Folgende Unterlagen sind bei der Migrationsbehörde (www.migracija.lt) in Litauen über das System MIGRIS (per E-Mail) vorzulegen:

• Einbürgerungsurkunde in beglaubigte Kopie  mit  Übersetzung ins Litauische; 
• Litauischer Reisepass/Personalausweis oder beglaubigte Kopien;
• Rechtssichere Nachweise für einen entsprechenden Ausnahmefall gemäß  §7 des Staatsangehörigkeitsgesetzes der Republik Litauen.

From November 15, 2021 all applications regarding the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania and notifications on the acquisition of citizenship of another state can only be submitted through the Lithuanian Migration Information System MIGRIS at the address www.migracija.lt (all browsers except Internet Explorer).  

If you are submitting an application via Migris for:

• a citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania for a child, born until 2011-04-01;
• notification of the acquisition of the citizenship of another state;
• renunciation of citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania.

The Migration Department will not carry out preliminary evaluation of the documents, so you can immediately register for admission at the Embassy for the presentation of the original documents.

The original documents must be presented within 4 months from the date of uploading the documents to the Migris system.

If you are submitting an application via MIGRIS for: 

• Reinstatement of citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania; 
• Simplified procedure for granting citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania;
• Return of the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania (a person who acquired the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania at birth or to whom the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania was restored or granted by simplified procedure and who subsequently lost it); 
• Request to allow the Republic of Lithuania to take the oath;
• A certificate of the right to restore citizenship or an application for the issue or amendment of a certificate of Lithuanian origin;

the procedure is following (for example: reinstatement of LT citizenship (supporting documents proving that the ancestors were LT citizens during 1918-1940, left Lithuania before or after 1940, etc.):

1. Submit your application regarding the restoration of the citizenship and all supporting documents on-line: www.migracija.lt

2. Receive the confirmation (via Migris) that documents have been pre-checked and preliminary assesment is completed by the Migration Department

3. Get an appointment at the Embassy (Elektroninė registracija lankytojų priėmimui | Aktualiausia informacija | Konsulinė informacija | Lietuvos Respublikos užsienio reikalų ministerija (mfa.lt)), come in person to present the original documents at the Embassy and pay the consular fee (within 4 months)

4.  Receive a decision regarding the restoration of the citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania (via Migris).
